Why only fair is lovely?

Why only fair is lovely?
Television advertisements are flooded with creams and facials which make ones complexion fair and all girls go crazy for being more fair more beautiful. If the girl is born wheatish the day people start commenting,’ek to ladki paida hui hai vo bhi kali’.The day her marriage is fixed they go for expensive facial packages.I strictly abhor this sick mentality.I am not against fashion or maintaining oneself but i am against that guilty of being unfair, short, and fat which girls fail to embrace happily.Accept yourseif the way you are girls but not merely accept keep cherishing it always.Never be a victim of colour bias. You first reject those proposals where fair skin colour is being asked.Injustices are done to women only because they accept without condemning it.

I was watching Dance India Dance yesterday and a girl despite a wonderful performance choreographed by Master Geeta was nominated, the reason being she had put on extra weight. Why in film industry too good looking girls preffered?Because our own society expects the same.Acting is secondary.I would definitly admire Bharti who has learnt to laugh on herself and she proved herself a great comedian because she accepted herself the way she is.Indeed there are few people who can be optimistic towards these.
Recently Shahrukh khan was approached for promoting boys fairness creams by a NGo for blocking it because it was conveying a wrong message to the society.

I recall a real life incident when i was at my friend’s place and we had to attend the reception party in the evening. When my friend got ready for the party putting a very pretty sari her mother-in-law came running taking powder and started rubbing on her both hands. It was indeed her love for my friend but i could not control myself i asked aunty,’What you want to depict?.Is it ‘fairness’ of your bahu.’She replied her bahu would look more nice then. What a beautiful definition of being nice?.I do not understand what is there in show off?..

I must quote the example of first Indian American Ms.Newyork Nina Davuliri crowned Miss America this year giving a big boost to the cultural diversity there.Although some sections were against this decision but if it had been India such a decision would have been a complete big no.Why we Indians are escaping from accepting ourselves?.Forgetting our base, our values.

Now Waris Dirie, one of the fashion world’s most stunning women once had been child of a tribe in Somalian Desert. She lived through heat, drought and deprivation but defeating all hurdles she became a supermodel giving a big inspiration to millions.

What i want to convey is SELF ACCEPTANCE without any ifs and buts.Define you in your own way let not be defined by others.Love yourself truly.ImageImage

Man Impulsive behaviour

Sharing a wonderful story …….
A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes & went directly to the surgery block.
He found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.
On seeing him, the dad shouted with series of questions:

“Why did you take all this time to come?”
“Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger?”
“Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”
The doctor smiled & said:
“I am sorry, I was not in the hospital & I came as fast
as I could after receiving the call……
And now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”
“Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now..
“Would you calm down?
If your own son dies now what will you do??”
 said the father angrily
The doctor smiled again & replied:
“I  will say what Job said in the Holy Book
“From dust we have come & to dust we will return
blessed be the name of God”.
Doctors cannot prolong lives.
Go & Pray for your son, we will do our best by God’s grace”
“Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy”
Murmured the father.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy,
“Thank goodness!, your son is saved!”
And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running.
“If you have any questions, asks the nurse!!”
“Why is he so arrogant? He could not wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state” Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.
The nurse answered with tears coming down her face:
“His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery.
And now that he saved your son’s life
he left running to finish his son’s burial.”

“Celebrating Innocence”-Happy Children’s Day

Being a mother and previously a teacher, this day holds special importance in my life.Recalling my days in school as a teacher fills my heart with unbound happiness. Those sweet smiles, warm good morning wishes, queries, dance rehearsals, was a complete fun where i too learnt so many fruitful things. These children are really very innocent and eager to learn it depends how to shape them properly.I remember few lines of my Manager sir where i did my schooling,’ Tum mujhe mati do mai tumhe moorti dunga.’

Studies must not be burdened on the students and extra curricular activities should be given due importance. The School should be most wonderful and fun loving place where students learn to enjoy studies. All loopholes of current studies basically devoid of practical knowledge be discarded. The bond between teachers and students should be the most beautiful bond where students learn to obey with love not by fear.

These children are hub of potential and imagination.Their skills and talents must be recognized and motivated. They never talk meaningless but we ourselves can not guess and carve out.Every student is unique, marks should not be the sole criteria for judging them.Comparisons create guilt and heaviness having adverse impact on these little minds.Their ideas must be taken seriously and cherished.I remember a class v boy Kaushik who was not very good in his studies and every now and then scolded by teachers for being very naughty. But one day he left me completely spellbound by his creativity and imagination. He gifted me a beautiful ring made by pencil waste and paper.Another student Ashutosh made me learn to make Dinosaur from paper for school exhibition.

The greatest gift for a teacher is seeing their students excelling in their respective fields and obviously remembering him/her.Few days back when a group of class IX girls came to meet me on Deepawali even after leaving the school for almost more than a year made be feel so special. Thanks for this valuable ” gift of love”  girls.

Cherishing the journey from little to ignited minds………A very very happy Children’s DayImage

Pain of being unheard

I met a girl yesterday she was perturbed and frowned over something.Somehow i started the communication by asking her well being and studies. She was a young girl in the final year of graduation.I asked her the reason of being upset with a little hesitation. But giving a blow to my dismay she spoke. She said ,’ I am afraid of sheer negligence, scoldings, and expectations of my parents. They do not take me out with them.My father does not talk to me never consoles me.I do not want new clothes or any thing i just want to be listened , my emotions pacified and heard.I am afraid of being alone.Being a girl i am not allowed to move out and make friends. My brother has a world outside the home in bad company.” And she started crying bitterly.I tried to calm her but it was not an easy task.

Today’s youth are undergoing with the same dilemma which breeds discontent and an increase in adolescent crimes and causalities. An increase in crime against woman because they have not seen women treated with respect and harmony in their family.Obviously family is the very first school in anybody’s life, sons would respect their mothers and wives if they would see their fathers treating mothers with dignity and respect.

Being a girl never means compromising with ones dreams.Neither their outfits nor living style is responsible for increasing crimes against them.Increasing suicides, violence against women, rapes, bullying are the result of improper upbringing. How many of you are in favor of awarding death sentence?.Would this abolish the said crimes?.So many cases of rape came in to light even after awarding death sentence to those involved in Delhi rape case.Fear of death can not control the number and depth of crimes.

These crimes are linked by the way all are the result of breeding discontent and a deep pain of being neglected.Because pain of being unheard leaves deep scars in ones heart gradually these small scars take the form of most dreaded crimes. These problems are really crying for attention.Parents and teachers need to talk to their children nowhere should be the communication gap.Proper upbringing taking emotional Quotient in to account is must. For the betterment of society one should be more concerned developing morally.

Diwali or Devastation

What a special Deepawali?.Unfortunately present day Ravanas are also celebrating it because for them it is mere bursting fire crackers, playing cards, enjoying wine and obviously good food.We have really forgotten the essence and particular importance of festivals. We are celebrating it for the sake of festivals. That Ravana was far more better than Ravana. He did not even touch sita but today millions and billions of Ravanas are roaming in disguise.Every now and then sita is being caught and crushed. What to celebrate??? Betrayal, corruption, superstition, depression, hunger or cryings??.I cannot rejoice Deepawali till the security and empowerment of women is guaranteed,if any house is devoid of power supply and basic amenities. Why not to celebrate it in a more prudent way.Pledge to take those lagging behind to walk with us.Never promote injustice of any kind done to women.Pledge to make India country of truth and purity.Purity in thoughts and action. Then we can be eligible to enjoy these festivities in true sense.Image
